I’d like to introduce a new blog which has just been started by a friend of mine: Medievalist Turned Librarian.  Sian Neilson studied medieval literature before taking up the obscure arts of librarianship and the mysteries of the rare book room.  She’ll be writing on libraries, digital humanities and “things medieval”, all of which I’m extremely interested in without knowing nearly enough about…

Judging from her first piece, there may also be a thread of her writing probing away at how gender intersects with our ideas about the production, curation and dissemination of literary materials.  In “Secretary-wives”, Gender and Libraries she takes a critical look at a recent piece about the wives of Great Writers and how they acted as adjuncts and executors – it’s very much worth a look.
